Peter Gurney

Peter Gurney was General Manager of Media Relations at NBN Co.

Formerly the General Manager of nbn™ local, Peter led the team responsible for managing key community stakeholders (including local government, industry groups, business and community stakeholder groups) and delivering a comprehensive community engagement program to support delivery of NBN Co's commercial objectives. He was also responsible for executing the delivery of the experiential program of work for NBN Co including the go-to-market strategy for external events.

Western Australian by birth, Peter grew up in Wheatbelt WA before heading to Perth. He started his career in Federal Government at DFAT, where he held roles across policy, trade and business outreach portfolios. He then spent time consulting in public policy, communications and government relations while working closely with IT multinationals in the research and development space. Peter was an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Edith Cowan University from 2011 to 2014 in the School of Computer and Security Science.

When not on the road or in the office, Peter can usually be found kicking the footy with his two boys at the local park or swimming at one of Sydney’s magnificent beaches.
